GOOGLE | New Logo and Why
Making Bigger and Bolder Look Better On Smaller
The New Google Logo, a major change made by the company was unveiled yesterday. The same color scheme is used but it has been made brighter and an entirely new typeface has been used. Google's new typeface is now a thicker and bold sans-serif which is also Alphabet's (Google's new parent company) logo.
This makeover has a practical motivation. The kind of lettering used is easier to read when shrunk down - Google products are increasingly on mobile devices and wear-able.
The new branding replaces the last Google logo, which the company has used since September 2013.
In a blog post announcing the change, Google's Tamar Yehoshua and Bobby Nath said - "We've taken the Google logo and branding, which were originally built for a single desktop browser page, and updated them for a world of seamless computing across an endless number of devices".
