Making Bigger and Bolder Look Better On Smaller

The New Google Logo, a major change made by the company was unveiled yesterday. The same color scheme is used but it has been made brighter and an entirely new typeface has been used. Google's new typeface is now a thicker and bold  sans-serif which is also Alphabet's (Google's new parent company) logo.

This makeover has a practical motivation. The kind of lettering used is easier to read when shrunk down - Google products are increasingly on mobile devices and wear-able.

The new branding replaces the last Google logo, which the company has used since September 2013.

In a blog post announcing the change, Google's Tamar Yehoshua and Bobby Nath said - "We've taken the Google logo and branding, which were originally built for a single desktop browser page, and updated them for a world of seamless computing across an endless number of devices".

Say G is for Google and You are not Far from the Truth - But wait, What is Alphabet?

The World received a shocker on Monday - August 10, 2015 from the Official Google  blog and since then questions have emerged about this new company called Alphabet.

Where does this new structure leave Google:

Google will be the largest subsidiary of parent company - Alphabet, whose structure is said to be similar to that of Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway.

The tech gaint announced it's re-branding on Monday – Alphabet a new holding company whose largest wholly owned subsidiary will be Google.

In a surprise and apologetic blog post made public after the stock markets closed - Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Google’s co-founders, announced a radical shake-up of the company’s corporate structure and management, handing control of its core search engine business to rising star Sundar Pichai.

What is Android:

Android is a mobile operating system (OS) based on the Linux kernel and currently developed by Google. It's user interface is based on direct manipulation and it is designed primarily for touchscreen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers, with specialized user interfaces for televisions (Android TV), cars (Android Auto), and wrist watches (Android Wear).
The touch inputs are - swiping, tapping, pinching, and reverse pinching to manipulate on-screen objects, and a virtual keyboard. Android although designed for touchscreen, has also been used in game consoles, digital cameras, regular PCs, and other electronics. As of 2015, Android has the largest installed base of all operating systems.

The history of Android mobile operating system began with the release of the Android beta in November 2007. The first commercial version, Android 1.0, was released in September 2008. Android is under ongoing development by Google and the Open Handset Alliance (OHA), and has seen a number of updates to its base operating system since its initial release.

An April–May 2013 survey of mobile application developers found that 71% of them create applications for Android; another 2015 survey found that 40% of full-time professional developers see Android as the "priority" target platform, which is more than iOS (37%) or other platforms. As of July 2013, the Google Play store has had over one million Android applications ("apps") published, and over 50 billion applications downloaded.

Since April 2009, Android versions have been developed under a confectionery-themed code name and released in alphabetical order, beginning with Android 1.5 "Cupcake"; the earlier versions 1.0 and 1.1 were not released under specific code names. Android's most recent major update is Android 5.0 "Lollipop", which was released on November 3, 2014.
The Version and Codename is listed below:
Android Text Hack
Android Text Message Hack

Research published on Monday confirms: Android phones can get infected by merely receiving a picture via text message

It affects an estimated 950 million phones worldwide -- about 95% of the Androids in use today. This has become the biggest smartphone flaw ever discovered at the present.

The problem stems from the way Android phones analyze incoming text messages. Even before you open a message, the phone automatically processes incoming media files -- including pictures, audio or video. This implies that a malware-laden file can start infecting the phone as soon as it's received, according to Zimperium, a cyber-security company that specializes in mobile devices.

This Android flaw is somewhat like the recent Apple text hack.
But in that case, a text message with just the right characters could freeze an iPhone or force it to restart.

Update:  Microsoft's Windows 10 is the new Windows 7

This is the dramatic climax to what Microsoft set out to do for computers over four years ago - Windows 10. The Redmond, Wash based firm's first attempt to smooth over the inevitable collision of laptops and tablets; Windows 8, ended in what's widely regarded as a flop and Windows 8.1 helped, but not much.
But this time, things are different. Despite learning it the hard way, Microsoft has clearly gathered crucial feedback over the short lifespan of Windows 8 and turned it into what might be the firm's most well-equipped piece of software yet.
